The purpose of the Society is to bring together people interested in the history of the Town of Fair Haven. Our extensive collection includes books, scrapbooks, magazines, photos, newspapers, town records, genealogical files, and artifacts. Donations are always welcome.
Our annual events include participation in Spring Fling (May), the Welcome Center Expo. (June), and Applefest (September). Each July the Society co-sponsors Local History Day with the Fair Haven Farmers’ Market. We also hold an annual tea for our senior citizens, an annual meeting with guest speaker (January), and a celebration on Charter Day (October). Board meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Our newsletter, the “Slate of Historic Events Past and Present,” is published quarterly.
The Society has several items for sale including books, postcards, notecards, mugs, and sweatshirts. All proceeds support the work of the Society. In addition, a campaign is currently under way to raise money to replace the wooden posts surrounding the Fair Haven Park with marble posts.
For more information, or to volunteer, please contact any Board member.
- The Fair Haven Historical Society is selling seven (7) slightly damaged white marble posts for $75.00 each. These posts, which were purchased for the Marble Fence Project, have some damage on the ends from the mill cutting. The damage areas could be buried in the ground. The square posts are 62-73 inches long and approximately 7 inches in width. They can be used for decorations, gardens, land markers, replicate hitching posts, and more. To view the posts please contact: Lorraine Brown at 802-236-0171.
